Time takes an important part in the logistics business and many essential shipments have to meet deadlines and standards of storage, as substances require to be taken care of in a particular way. This time we want to share with you a moving story about a project from our Elite member Elie Kachouh from ELC Transport Services:
ELC Transport Services was in charge of keeping a cargo shipment on -20 degrees Celsius to be sent from Germany for a 4 year old girl with a very rare disease that could cost her eyesight; she is going through an experimental treatment. The company faced some challenges as the airlines with direct flights didn't accept to take the cargo. Emirates Airline accepted under their Skypharma Plus Service. Another problem was that the cargo will transit in Dubai, and temperature should be kept -20 degrees Celsius. ELC packed the cargo in Pelican Chronos Advance passive boxes that keep a very low temperature for 120 hours (the normal passive dry ice boxes were not an option with their 48 hours validity). Cargo departed from Frankfurt on Saturday 30th of March to Dubai. Then from Dubai to Beirut on the 31st of March. Arrangements were done ahead with local ministry of health and customs to allow immediate retrieval upon arrival. ELC's truck was at the airport with the freezer running and set at -25 Deg Celsius. Finally the cargo was successfully cleared and stored immediately in their truck upon arrival and out for delivery. The delivery was done on Sunday the 31st at 23:00 hrs.
