Congratulations to Scott Ellery and Hawk-Ellery Freight Services Limited team on the successful charter and transport of 91 curved timber beams from Auckland to Melbourne.
Ranging from 7 to 30 meters in length, with a total weight of approximately 300 metric tonnes, these timber arches required more than just standard freight handling. The widest pieces curved up to 6 meters, making transport and stowage a true test of logistics expertise.
As a cargo agent, Hawk-Ellery NZ coordinated every aspect of the move: from lifting and stevedoring to surveying, fumigation, and export clearance. A unified berth and fumigation zone were strategically selected to allow smooth road delivery, minimize port movement, and streamline vessel loading at a single location.
A detailed lifting plan with double slinging was put into place to ensure proper weight distribution and safety. By limiting the number of arches per lift and planning each step with care, the team delivered all three charters seamlessly.
This project highlights the power of proactive communication, detailed planning, and risk mitigation in handling complex cargo. Proud to see this level of excellence within the X2 Projects.
Well done to the entire Hawk Ellery team for executing with precision!
