CEEKAY Executes Breakbulk Cargo Movement from UAE to Upper Gulf
CEEKAY has successfully completed the complex transportation of approximately 1600 freight tons of breakbulk cargo from Jebel Ali, UAE, to the Upper Gulf. The shipment was executed by our X2 projects on an EXW basis via a geared breakbulk vessel, with services encompassing comprehensive route and cargo surveys, meticulous transport planning, and real-time project reporting. This door-to-port operation required precise coordination to handle out-of-gauge (ODC) packages, with the largest measuring 13.5 x 4.8 x 5.1 meters and weighing 43 tons.
The scope of the project included managing overwide and over height cargo, securing police and escort permissions, and navigating road transport through Sharjah and Dubai. One of the major challenges faced was ensuring that the cargo passed safely under bridges with a maximum height restriction of 5.5 meters. In addition, customs inspection delays arose due to the shipment originating from a Free Zone, involving duty deposit and refund procedures, which CEEKAY’s team navigated efficiently.
Despite these logistical and regulatory hurdles, CEEKAY delivered the project with precision and timeliness, reaffirming its reputation for handling complex industrial cargo. The successful execution, coupled with high-quality project documentation and client reporting, showcases CEEKAY’s continued commitment to operational excellence in the breakbulk and project logistics sector.
