In a striking demonstration of logistics expertise and operational agility, AFWX has successfully completed an urgent AOG (Aircraft on Ground) shipment of a PW4000 engine from the Netherlands to China, overcoming storms, logistical hurdles, and regulatory challenges along the way.
The high-priority engine shipment encountered significant early setbacks, including incorrect dimensions and a missing Dangerous Goods (DG) declaration. Despite these issues, the AFWX team swiftly resolved documentation problems and reconfigured the logistics chain for maximum efficiency.
Routed through multiple modes and borders, the engine traveled:
MST (Netherlands) → FRA (Germany) by road
FRA → HKG via freighter aircraft
HKG → CAN (China) by road
Upon arrival in Hong Kong, fumigation protocols were preemptively arranged to accelerate customs clearance, a key move that kept the timeline intact. But perhaps the most impressive feat came during the final delivery: the cross-border handover was executed during Hong Kong’s rare Black Storm Warning, the highest-level weather alert.
“One engine. On time. One happy customer. One happy consignee,” Anthony Joughin of AFWX reported, celebrating the delivery’s success.
