For many around the world, the conflict in the Middle East is something watched through news alerts and social media feeds.
For those of us living here in Dubai, it feels far more personal.
Over the past couple of months, we have lived through uncertainty that many outside the region may struggle to fully understand. Conversations at dinner tables have changed. Parents are thinking about their children differently. Businesses are operating with caution. Flights have been disrupted, trade has slowed, and every day seems to bring a new headline that impacts confidence across the region.
As someone working in logistics and supply chain, I am witnessing these effects in real time.
The Middle East is one of the world’s most important trade corridors, and when instability touches this region, the ripple effects are global. Shipping routes become unpredictable, air freight capacity tightens, costs rise, and supply chains built for efficiency suddenly face serious pressure.
Here in Dubai, many companies connected to trade and logistics are navigating difficult conditions. Some businesses are delaying decisions. Cash flow is becoming tighter. Customers are asking for longer credit terms. Freight is moving slower and at higher cost.
And yet, despite all this, there is still resilience.
What continues to inspire me is how people and businesses adapt during difficult moments. Freight forwarders across our region are finding alternative solutions every single day..rerouting cargo, managing disruptions, communicating transparently with customers, and continuing to keep trade moving despite enormous challenges.
This is where strong relationships and trusted global partnerships become invaluable.
In many ways, moments like these redefine the role of a freight forwarder. We are no longer simply moving cargo. We become advisors, crisis managers, and problem solvers.
And while conflict brings undeniable hardship, it also creates opportunity for those prepared to adapt. New trade routes emerge. Businesses rethink supply chains. Customers value reliability more than ever before.
Living in the center of this situation has reminded me of something important: resilience is not built during easy times. It is revealed during difficult ones.
And despite the uncertainty around us, I remain optimistic..for our region, for our industry, and for the power of global partnerships to overcome even the most challenging periods.
Our special networking event is about smart freight forwarders coming together to grow and develop business within the group by providing an opportunity for all members to gather in one place to form and extend personal relationships.
